Beauties Of Orchids Flowers

Orchids have a unique kind of beauty that speaks volumes of their diversity and utility. They are talk and slender. The stalk rises to an extraordinarily beautiful flower head that is intricately made up of inner and outer petals. There is also a circular petal in the center that is separate from the rest. The parts of the flower sound as extraordinary as they appear. Th arrangement of the flower is so unique and one of a kind that it almost seems to be like something out of this world. There is a high level of detailed arrangement and complex intricacy that is possesses a sublime singularity of form.

The Orchid is one of the most revered flowers on the planets because of the way it looks and its ability to brighten or elevate the mood of surroundings at any given instant. It has been cultivated for thousands of years by man who sought its soothing and curative presence as a source of relief and relaxation.

It has survived the harshest alterations to the earth’s surface and the most disastrous eras of climatic change. It is truly a symbol of resilience and perseverance. It has even survived the vile of Mother Nature and the damaging effects of industrialization and civilization of the modern man.

The Orchid has persisted since the prehistoric times when dinosaurs roamed the earth. The evolution process and natural selection led to the extinction of many animals and plants but the orchid survived through all that. The orchid has been found on every continent of the earth except maybe Antarctica where the living conditions for most animals and plants are deadly to say the least.

Orchids have great adaptability and can adjust to any terrain whether it is mountainous, valleys, swamps, bogs, grasslands and semi-arid lands. There are almost thirty six thousand different species of orchids found on every habitable surface of the earth and they may still be more species that are undiscovered that will give further credence to the majestic natural beauty of the orchid.

Orchids are pollinated by bees. These bees are attracted to the orchids through various ingenious means: for e.g. through smell, adaptive mimicry and dispersive spreading of pollen. The orchids emit various smells that attract different kinds of insects from butterflies, to bees, to flies and even hummingbirds.

The patterns that are found on the petals of the orchid can imitate various body patterns of different insects and this further attracts insects to the flower to pollinate them. Some Orchids also utilize stealth methods in which they trap flying and crawling insects into their buds and allow the insects to fly away only when they have brushed across enough pollen to spread to other plants.
